Local University Scholarships
Millennium Scholarship
: There is NO APPLICATION for the Millennium Scholarship.  Students who qualify by graduation are automatically put on a list that is sent to the Nevada Treasurer's office.  This scholarship has continued many years beyond its original planned funding and could be ended at any time prior to next graduating class.  As of fall 2019, students who earn at least a 3.25 weighted, cumulative GPA by graduation - OR - earned a qualifying ACT (21) or SAT (1070) score, AND complete all graduation requirements with 4 years of math (including Algebra 2 or higher) and 3 years of science, and graduate from Nevada high school, and were a resident of Nevada for at least TWO years of high school qualify. ​Nevada Promise Scholarship: For students planning to attend a Nevada state community college. Each community college has an application web page for the Nevada Promise Scholarship and starts helping potential students complete the application for the Nevada Promise Scholarship in August.  The application is due October 31st every year. ​TMCC's Nevada Promise Scholarship - Truckee Meadows Community College

TMCC Scholarships

  • Current and prospective TMCC students are eligible to apply for TMCC Foundation scholarships between January 1 and March 1 annually. Scholarship awards are based on factors such as scholastic merit and financial need. Student Scholarships - Foundation and Grants Office - Truckee Meadows Community College (tmcc.edu)  Students do not need to apply for a specific scholarship. Student profiles are matched with appropriate scholarship opportunities based on the information provided in the application and from the students' MyTMCC account. Some Apply-To scholarships may require short-essay responses.

University of Nevada, Reno Scholarships
​UNR has developed a scholarship web page with a large assortment of scholarships.  There is something there for almost everyone. Visit www.unr.edu/financial-aid/scholarships.

  • First in the Pack: program designed to connect you to the multitude of resources that will help you becomes a successful UNR student. This program is open to incoming first-time, full-time freshmen from families where neither parent has a bachelor's degree. Click here for more information.

Miscellaneous Scholarships
AMERICAN CULINARY FEDERATION 
The American Culinary Federation offers a limited number of scholarships annually to students every year. Awards vary between $1,500-$2,500. Scholarship deadlines are April 30 and October 31 of each year. Go here to apply: Scholarships

American Indian College Fund: The American Indian College Fund provides scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native college students who are enrolled in certificate, undergraduate, or graduate programs at tribal colleges and universities, or nonprofit, accredited schools. Click here for more information.

Asian Pacific Fund: To apply for a scholarship administered by the Asian Pacific Fund, please review the complete eligibility criteria for each scholarship program, and download the application for the program(s) for which you are eligible. Click here for more information.

Community Foundation Scholarships of Northern Nevada: Complete the common Eligibility Quiz as a starting point. The software prompts you to provide all the information necessary. After completing the questions on the Quiz, you will have access to multiple scholarships that match your qualifications. Click here for more information.

​Discover Student Loans Scholarship Award: Enter to win up to $10,000 four times per year. Click here for more information.

Extreme Terrain's Student Scholarship: Extreme Terrain is offering two $2,500 scholarships, one for the fall semester and one for the spring Semester to eligible students pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Research, Land Use, Earth and Atmosphere Studies, Sustainable Land Management, Parks and Recreation, or Sustainable Agriculture Systems. Students should submit a 700 – 1500 word essay here that describes who you are, why you feel it is important to maintain access to public lands for recreational use and how you plan to use your degree to advocate for the recreational use of public lands. Essays should be submitted as a PDF or Microsoft Word document to be eligible for consideration and must also be accompanied with proof of current enrollment in an accredited United States college or university.   • Please submit your essay by 12:00PM EST on October 15th in order to be eligible for the spring semester scholarship and by June 15th to be eligible for the fall semester scholarship. The winner of the spring semester will be selected by November 15th and the fall semester winner will be selected by July 15th.
  • This opportunity is offered every year and submissions are open and encouraged for the spring and fall semesters.
  • Scholarship payment will be sent directly to the winner’s school as a tuition payment.
  • Extreme Terrain Scholarships are non-renewable, however previous winners who are still eligible may submit a new essay that follows the same criteria. Entries are limited to one essay per student each semester.

Hispanic Scholarship Opportunities: As the nation’s largest provider of college financial aid to Latino students, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a diverse range of scholarship programs, including Gates Millennium Scholars. Horatio Alger Association Scholarships: As one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need. Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship: The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarship programs are designed to encourage and support outstanding students who work hard and have financial need. Our scholarships provide financial assistance and academic support to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Click here for more information. 

National Center for Learning Disabilities offers several different scholarships. Most are rolling scholarships-which means there are several different due dates. Go here for more information and to apply:

ADHD College Success Scholarship: NCLD is proud to launch our 2025 scholarship for students with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We encourage students with a documented diagnosis to apply for this one-time scholarship, which can be used to fund tuition and other costs related to their higher education pursuits, including tutoring, educational resources, and more.Anne Ford Scholarship: The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year over four years) granted to a graduating high school senior who will enroll in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in the fall. Students must have a documented learning disability (LD). Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) who also have a learning disability, are encouraged to apply.Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship: The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded over two years ($2,500 each year) to a graduating high school senior who will enroll in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with disabilities in the fall. Students must have a documented learning disability (LD). Students who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and a LD, are encouraged to apply.

Nevada Women's Fund Scholarships: NWF scholarships are designated for women residents of northern Nevada, with preference to women attending school at a northern Nevada accredited institution. Click here for more information. ​

Reno/Sparks Assistance League: Scholarship is designed for current or former enrollee of Children in Transition Program. Must be a high school graduate and be eligible to work in the United States.
